Two cycling  projects, Chasing the Lanterne Rouge and Le
Domestique: The Dog Soldiers of July
center on my curiosity and
passion for bicycle racing and a cultural and sporting
phenomenon known as Le Tour de France.

From the upcoming Le Domestique:

In 1952 Andrea Carrea, the great Fausto Coppi's trusted
domestique found himself in a miracle break on the road into
Lausanne - it succeeded - what's more he had inherited the
coveted champion's jersey, the maillot jaune.  When officials
told the tiny Italian he broke down in tears saying, "I have no
right to it.  A poor man like me, the yellow jersey?"

The following evening Carrea spoke to journalists gathered at
the hotel, apologizing, saying it was not right for a soldier to
leave his captain.
